After 30 years working as an inspector for the insurance company NEM, our founder Robert Fletcher Smith
ACII decided to form his own insurance consultancy, specialising in all aspects of insurance for the local
community.

That was some twenty years ago!

Always a family business, in 1992, Bob recruited his son Alistair Bsc. (Tech) Hons. to look after the personal lines
department. We have prospered ever since.

Ten years ago, we purchased our commodious premises, previously occupied by the Nat West Bank. They
even left us the bank vault - we must have the most secure filing room in the country!

In 2001 we were approached by A&N Insurance (based in Walkley) who offered us the chance to purcheas
their business, thus ensuring that their local client base stayed with a local broker.

In 2003, we elected to become a limited company, still under the control of Bob & Alistair as working, hands
on directors.

Our experienced insurance team will guide you through the market and help you select the most appropriate
policy to meet your demands & needs.

Our principles have not changed - we are still very much a family concern, relying on word of mouth
recommendations, no rash promises, no off-shore call centres, no automatic answering machines, no hard
sell, just straightforward honest & impartial insurance advice from friendly and experienced staff.
